Confirming the silhouette, cut and fabric she is most fond of, 44-year-old Jennifer Lopez turned back time in a Donna Karan gown reminiscent of the nearly-naked Versace dress she wore to the 2000 Grammys
Jennifer Lopez was 30 years old when she garnered headlines around the world in 'that Versace dress' at the 2000 Grammy Awards.
Slashed way below the navel and only just covering her modesty, the sheer, palm-leaf print dress ensured the singer and actress and her body was etched on the consciousness of the public - fans or not - worldwide.
Fast-forward 14 years and she can't escape that dress and its connotations - but not that she'd want to, you see.
At last night's Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas she sauntered down the red carpet in a blood red Donna Karan design which actually looked more like a robe than a dress. Cinched at the waist and plunging to her bellybutton (Lopez is now a sensible mother of two, after all), with silk tumbling from her shoulders, a pair of low-cut briefs revealed that the ageing process just doesn't apply to Jenny From The Block.
While her choice of suitor has changed several times since the Grammys (back then she was with rapper P Diddy, and has since been married, had twins, divorced and found love with backing dancer Casper Smart, who is 18 years her junior) absolutely nothing else has.
Indeed, at 44, la Lopez looks exactly like she did back in 2000 - save for a generous dose of blonde highlights. That coffee-coloured glow is still there, as is the voluptuous but toned figure - curvaceous derriere included - which women and men around the world have been marvelling at long before a certain Miss Kardashian came on the scene.
Last year, New York-born Lopez revealed that she still owns the Versace frock, and that her housekeeper has taken to putting it on mannequins in the singer's in-house spa. "She sent me a picture" explained Lopez. "She was like, 'You like this dress?' Um, yeah, but I don't know if I like it out in the house!"
And in March, the video for her single I Luh Ya PaPi saw the star model a tropical jumpsuit that was strikingly similar to the infamous Versace number.
