Devon County Show is cancelled due to

Anyone from Somerset and Dorset planning to travel to the Devon County Show this weekend is out of luck - it has been cancelled.

The event, which pulls in visitors from across the region with many businesses and exhibitors from the South West, taking part has been called off due to safety fears.

The news follows traffic chaos and a five car collision that has left two in hospital.

The show organisers have described the decision as "heart breaking".

Two casualties were taken to hospital this afternoon the serious collision in the the Devon County Show car park.

A 70-year-old pedestrian is one of those seriously hurt.

Thousands of drivers faced disruption around the M5 junction 30 and A376 near Clyst St Mary.

The event was due to continue tomorrow and attracts tens of thousands of visitors.

It is the first time in its history the event has been called off.

The show's car park at Westpoint had been badly affected by heavy rainfall.
