Blake Shelton Shares Stories With Fans


Country Star Blake Shelton sought a relationship with his fans to create his concert Sunday night at the kickoff of the Midland County Fair.

Shelton wove his songs with stories about his new wife, Miranda Lambert, his experience as a judge on NBC's "The Voice" and his family growing up in Oklahoma.

Fans found their seats and settled in with their elephant ears, popcorn and non-alcoholic beverages, such as opener Matt Mason played a mix of covers and original songs. In 2006, Mason placed fourth on the fourth season of CMT's "Nashville Star".

Shelton made his debut on stage with his second number one single of the year, "All About Tonight," followed by a crowd favorite, "Some Beach. "

To prep the crowd for a cover of George Strait's "All My Exes Live in Texas," Shelton explained what the song meant to him.

Ten years ago, Shelton gave the reason he decided to wholeheartedly pursue a musical career was to meet women. Lambert to find in Texas, his many women from the area, and the song is its unofficial anthem ever since.

Shelton dedicated his next song, "Hey Romeo," a group of young fans, he noticed in the crowd.

Shelton then sang his version of Michael Bublé's "Home", the ballad that he chose to perform when inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.

Shelton told the audience how each member of his family has a different taste in music. He performed at short covers of his parents' favorite, "that funky music Play" by Wild Cherry, his favorite brother, "Centerfold" by J. Geils Band, and his sister's favorite, "My Prerogative," Britney Spears.

The next set included hits like "Kiss my Ass country ',' Who are you when I'm not looking," "She would not be gone," and a new single, "God Gave Me You."

On his acoustic guitar, Shelton played an older song, "Nobody But You," and his first single, "Austin," in 2001. Fans surprised him by knowing the words and sing along.

Shelton closed the evening with mega hit "Honey Bee" followed by "Hillbilly Bone" and "Ol 'Red" as an encore.

Fans left the exhibition feeling that a closer relationship with the country star like Shelton are willing to visit 16 more cities on its national tour.
