Lorde floats into the Billboard Awards to show the Grammys she's an award-winning artist.
After being snubbed by the Grammys, talented songstress Lorde put her hawk-eye on the big prize at tonight's Billboard Music Awards and is flying away with more than one trophy firmly clutched in her talons.
Lorde, whose real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, has won Top New Artist and Top Rock Song in Las Vegas this evening, but her ensemble almost has people talking more about her style than her music. Almost.
The 17-year-old songstress, who hails from New Zealand, walked the red carpet and took to the stage in a head-to-toe black pantsuit. The outfit is complete with voluminous shoulders that would make Bea Arthur and the rest of the Golden Girls jealous, as well as plenty of plumage running down her arms.
Though her styling choices definitely have people buzzing, talk of the talented singer/songwriter's winnings for the evening are still taking a front seat. Lorde's victory over Imagine Dragons in the Top Rock Song category has many of the band's fans questioning whether or not the "Royals" singer even belonged in the "rock" category, but most are still in awe at the fact that the teenager oozes so much talent at such a young age. According to the official Billboard Music Awards' Twitter account, music writing pretty much flows out of this girl.
